Oh How I love My Chickens

Saturday I just enjoyed some time outside it was beautiful and just taking some pictures of my chickens….they never cease to entertain me…..

Sure cleaning out the coop is not easy and making sure they have dry nesting materials and all the things you do when you love your chickens involves time etc….but the eggs are truly worth it if you have never had a fresh egg from your backyard.  Well its a wonder to behold I never tire of going outside and collecting fresh eggs each day.

They always look forward to any treat my chickens are not picky but I am pretty sure there favorite treats are oatmeal or greens in the yard.

My husband, the dog and I will usually be working in the yard when we let our chickens free range but this past Saturday was all about them.  We just took photos and watched them as they excitedly grabbed up weeds and worms.  As I have blogged about in previous posts (Raising Chickens Are Worth The Egg’stra Trouble) are chickens have 2 coops (one large one and one small one) and a huge chicken run to live in but because we are only on 1/3 of an acre here at our Lil’ Suburban Homestead they usually only free range on the weekends and more frequently when I am not working in the summer.

Our dog River loves to come out and hang out with the gal’s!

As you can see in this photo above they are very busy!

Now I am off to cook up an omelette!   Oh if you like Omelette’s check out my Frittata blog post here…. Have a great day everyone!

Fondly,

If taking care of the Handyman wasn’t so much work I would probably have a few, but just cleaning up after him is enough. 🙂
